Summer is back in town and you can definitely feel it! It's been beautiful, sunny, hot days with some rain mixed in every week or so. Fortunately, we've had enough rain to keep us from having the dreaded summer droughts feared every year in the south. The weather is perfect for swimming at Morganton Point on Lake Blue Ridge, tubing on the Toccoa River, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River. I am personally glad (and all women know why!) its been more of a dry heat than a humid, muggy heat. This weekend is the always busy 4th of July and Blue Ridge is booming. Fireworks displays will be held in McCaysville on July 2nd and on Lake Blue Ridge July 3rd. Both will be excellent family events starting at dark. I suggest bringing a watermelon, drinks, may be some hotdogs or hamburgers to have while the fireworks are going and of course a blanket or chairs to sit on. Normally the displays last around two hours. McCaysville's display can be seen from the downtown area in McCaysville. Lake Blue Ridge Marina's Display can be seen from anyway in the Lake or Marina area. Both are free to the public and very popular so if you plan on going I'd get there early for a good spot!
Fireworks are a local and tourist favorite!
The Beautiful Mountain Lake Blue Ridge
Downtown Blue Ridge will be hosting "Movie In the Park" this weekend also. Its 9:00 P.M. July 2nd and will be showing "Night At The Museum". Admission is free as well as popcorn and water for everyone attending. There are many other things going on this weekend so feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions for activities or festivals! As with any holiday weekend, we wish you and your family the best! Everyone stay safe out there this weekend. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!
