Blue Ridge Mountain Waterfalls
Waterfalls in and around Blue Ridge, Morganton, Mineral Bluff, McCaysville, Dial, Epworth, Aska Adventure Area and Fannin County in the North Georgia Mountains, beautiful, peaceful and most within all within a casual walk, some you can even see from the road. All are worth a trip and a photograph.
Falls Branch Falls: The upper portion of this waterfall is a series of cascades that lead to a single major drop of some 30 feet, with the water plunging into a deep pool at the base of the falls. Falls Branch Falls is located along the Benton MacKaye Trail west of Aska Road. You access the falls by a hiking trail. The trail begins on the north side of the road and starts its acent to the top of the falls. An unmarked trail on your right leads to the base of the falls (50 yards) here an observation deck offers a spectacular view of the waterfalls. Use extreme caution around these falls! The rocks are slippery and dangerous. Return to the parking area on the same trail.
Long Creek Falls: The most popular of the Fannin County waterfalls, you can find Long Creek Falls by hiking down a short side trail from the combined Appalachian-Benton MacKaye Trail. Long Creek Falls total is approximately 50 feet in two different drops. A leisurely 30 minute hike to the falls is uphill on the way in, downhill on the way out.
Toccoa River Swinging Bridge: This bridge, the longest swinging bridge east of the Mississippi River, is a 270 foot suspension bridge located over the Toccoa River and can be reached by the Benton MacKaye Trail and the Duncan Ridge National Recreational Trail in Fannin County. The trails to access the bridge are located on each side of the river and provide a short, pleasant walk.
Directions to the above listed waterfalls and swinging bridge are located in the Blue Ridge Travel Guide you will receive when you check in at the Cabin In The Mountains Office.
